AVERAGE: Pavilion KL: Hokkaido Ramen Santouka

SG foodie and DH has a strange habit of visiting Pavilion KL during Christmas, akin to an annual pilgrimage draw. (Not that SG foodie does not visit Pavilion outside of Christmas, though admittedly she goes to KL maybe only once every quarter, since she still has a fear of driving into KL city center on her own and waits for DH to bring her to KL if necessary. Anyway if you're in that part of KL, visit Lot 10 basement food court where the best of Malaysia street foods are gathered, offering a clean, comfy and convenient venue for locals and tourists.) Anyway so Christmas was nearing and after sending off some overseas visitors, SG foodie and DH made the trip to Pavilion. Wanting to try the food on Japan Street on Level 5 of Pavilion, SG foodie selected Santouka for ramen instead of the standard sushi and bento boxes.

With the not-so-lil'-anymore K1 & K2 in toll, SG foodie got to order four different ramen. SG foodie opted for Char Siew Ramen set that comes with a bowl of char-siew ramen in miso soup, a char-siew rice bowl, a chawanmushi, salad, pickles and a cup of tea. K1 ordered the fried rice ramen set with shio (original) soup while K2 ordered a salmon rice ramen set with miso soup. DH had a Santouka ramen in soyu (soy sauce) soup. After trying everyone's ramen, SG foodie will recommend that you go for the shio soup if you ever decide to try this place; the soyu soup is ok while the miso soup wasn't impressive at all. The chawanmushi is smooth and tasty and the fried rice was pretty yummy but the char-siew wasn't much to talk about.

For the price of RM40 per person per set, SG foodie was rather disappointed with the standard of food served though service was good. (Note: you're only served water unless you order a set that comes with a cup of tea.)
