MUST TRY: SS2, PJ - Geylang Lor 9 Frog Legs Porridge (not for the faint-hearted!)

Finding a slice of Singapore in KL is always a joy and in SS2, a street food haven, you will find not just Malaysian street foods at every corner, but also the Geylang Lor 9 Frog Legs Porridge. SG foodie visits this place about once a month especially on days when lighter food is called for. Hence after the festive gorging, SG foodie headed to SS2 to have some frog legs porridge.

SG foodie is quite predictable when visiting this place often ordering 1 frog cooked in dried chilli, 1 frog with ginger and spring onion (in a non-spicy black sauce), 1 big pot of white porridge - all of which are cooked and served in claypots. On top of this, SG foodie usually adds on a lemon chicken for K1 & K2 who like the way the shop prepares this dish. K1 & K2 have now learnt to enjoy frogs with the rice/porridge since we do visit quite regularly.

For the uninitiated, you eat the white rice/porridge with the slurpalicious sauce from the frog claypot. SG foodie can't describe the euphoria of the dried chilli black sauce on white congee with that tangy, spicy blend that makes you come back for more with every mouthful. The frogs, a seafood, are perfectly cooked such that the flesh is bouncy and firm. You will not want to stop at just one bowl of congee, SG Foodie (almost) guarantees you'll have the second bowl of congee.
