MUST TRY: SINGAPORE - Ippudo Mandarin Gallery

SG foodie tried Ippudo some years back but haven't stepped in again for a long time. Wasn't sure if the ramen would be as good as she remembered but it was worth a shot especially since DH and K1 are ramen fans.

It was a weekday late afternoon but the shop at Mandarin Gallery still had a queue. But it was a short wait especially since SG foodie didn't mind counter seats. Orders were taken for a Shiromaru Motoaji, the original Ippudo ramen in a light soup, a Akamaru Shinaji, a ramen in a stronger soup and a Black Spicy ramen that was the seasonal special. Green tea are served in a pot if you are a hot green tea fan like SG foodie is. SG foodie asked for the ramen to be in medium texture (vs hard or soft depending on your preference).

The ramen in medium texture were done just right with their little chewiness in it without them being too tough to munch on. The Shinaji soup was miso-coloured but still light and yummy while the Motoaji soup was certainly heavier in taste and would appeal to those who prefer strong flavours. The Motoaji comes with a scoop of chilli on top so if you prefer not to have it, just scoop it away. The spicy seasonal ramen was SG foodie's choice since she's a spicy food fiend. The chashu was slightly fatty but thin and soft and the soup was ultra-yummy with that spicy kick - delicious!

Expect to spend SGD20 per person here. SG foodie hear that Ippudo has opened a branch in Pavilion KL just last week where you should expect to spend about RM30-40 per person (that's a bargain, isn't it for Singaporeans?!).
