MUST TRY: Dim Sum: Jin Xuan

SG foodie loves dim sum simply because dim sum is a buffet of small dishes that allows you to sample everything. The best dim sum SG foodie has tried is in Ipoh where she visits Ming Court to have. The most famous dim sum in Ipoh is Fo Shan but it has moved to a new venue and changed its menu somewhat and SG foodie prefers the selection at Ming Court instead.

Since dim sum seems to satisfy most with its large variety, SG foodie goes for dim sum on a regular basis with family and friends. Jin Xuan Dim Sum has been around for a while. SG Foodie has tried it in its various branches in Puchong, Damansara Utama, PJ Old Town and Damansara Jaya and continues to return there frequently especially the Damansara Jaya branch. SG foodie and her family find that the DJ branch is well-organised, they have a number-calling system when there is a queue for tables and once you're seated, the servers bearing trays of food comes straight to you and you get your food immediately.

It is because the branch is so well-organised that even if you are famished by the time you arrive at the branch, you are guaranteed to quench your thirst and cure your hunger pangs once you get your table number. The dim sum are served steaming hot or just fried/baked too. SG foodie usually have the following delicious items on her table when she's there:

1) Har kou (prawn dumpling)
2) Shui Zen Bao (Crystal dumpling)
3) Chu Cheong Fun (Rice Flour Dough)
4) Siu Mai (Wanton-skin wrapped dumpling)
5) Fried Carrot Cake (fried with bean sprouts like in hawker centres)
6) Fried Radish Cake
7) Yu Mai (Steamed Fishballs)
8) Rice Porridge
9) Steamed Chicken Feet with Chilli Sauce
10) Beancurd Roll
11) Egg Tarts (usually hand-made in the shop)
12) Custard Bao (soft yellow bread dough bun filled with salty-sweet custard)
13) Mango pudding

The other good thing about Jin Xuan DJ branch is that they are open till late at night (8-9pm) so you can have dim sum even its for dinner!
