SG Foodie loves roast duck and must say that KL offers a better choice for roast duck than in Singapore. Roast duck needs to have crispy skin with tender, juicy meat inside to be classified as a good eat and the ladies at Sunrise have it down to a pat.
Sunrise starts serving their menu from 11:30am everyday (closed on Monday) till they are sold out. The standard items on the menu are roast duck, rice, sour mustard soup, lettuce with fried shallots and herbal tea. Not sure if there are more than these items but every occupied table had these items on them. SG Foodie ordered half a roast duck to share with DH but saw a man who ordered half a duck just for himself and he finished it all with rice and soup all on his own too!
The roast duck at Sunrise is succulent! Tender, juicy duck flesh with crispy duck skin, they even top up the duck with crispy duck skin extracted from the roasted duck neck (which is one of SG Foodie's favourite parts of a roast duck). The duck sauce is herbal soy sauce that is scrumptious especially on white rice and the sweet, sour chilli gives the added spiciness to complete the taste. Another server will come around with bowls of soup to offer to diners. The soup is sour and salty at the same time, whetting your appetite to have more roast duck, rice, sauce, chilli then soup and the cycle starts again until every bit of food is finished.
Sunrise roast duck is truly simple food at its very best!
