Sushi Zanmai / Fish & Co (1 Utama)

SG foodie has been ill hence the silence for a few days... But since SG foodie is a poor cook and still wanted good food even though she was unwell, SG foodie went to a nice, comfy mall - 1 Utama which happens to be another of SG foodie's favouritest place for the food and the arrays of choices, not just for food but for shopping too (another Singaporean favourite past-time)! 1 Utama is about 12 years old but has been renovated and expanded since and it moved from just one wing to having an old wing connected to a new wing, then the old wing got renovated and the old wing is mostly now new and the new wing is so well-maintained, it's still pretty, so now we have a new old wing and a lovely not-so-new new wing... all puns are intended!
Sushi Zanmai (new wing) open for lunch at 11am and SG foodie was already there. Why? Coz this restaurant has a loooooooooooooong queue everytime SG foodie has been there! This is a pork-free version of Sushi Tei... could be a spin-off from Sushi Tei but SG foodie don't have the inside news of that. SG foodie was a Sushi Tei member and fan back in Singapore though by now SG foodie's membership would have had expired... But anyway Sushi Zanmai is a step up from the ordinary conveyor belt sushi bars. SG foodie had sashimi of course, salmon but they didn't serve swordfish/butterfish which is actually tastier than salmon. The conveyor belt makis and sushis offered a variety to choose from.
Fish & Co finally arrived in KL. SG foodie who hardly get a chance to go back to Singapore, has been missing it! The menu seems to be different though but maybe the ones in Singapore has changed to. But every table had the classic Ofishcial newspaper and all the "news" were actually Singapore-related and speaks of the promotions they are having in Singapore. SG foodie was missing home indeed!
So anyway they had more variety of fish & chips now with a Singapore fish & chips (chilli crab sauce), a Malaysian fish & chips (sambal chilli), Italian fish & chips (mozarella cheese) on top of the New York fish & chips (cheese). Tried the Italian fish & chips and also the Seafood Platter for 1.... The Italian fish & chips was great but the Seafood Platter was disappointing except for the rice, SG foodie remembered it was better when she had it in Singapore
Till next time when SG foodie gets well and can taste better!
