AVERAGE: Hanwoori Korean Restaurant, Ampang

SG foodie had always heard of a "Korean village" in Ampang but never visited (also because she has terrible sense of directions and will certainly get lost trying to navigate Ampang!) and instead goes to Mont Kiara/Sri Hartamas area where there is also an abundance of Korean restaurants to choose from whenever the craving for Korean food comes along. This time though, DH drove everyone to Ampang and searched for place which isn't too difficult to spot. This is opposite Ampang Point, an old mall and you'll see Korean supermarkets, Korean language centres and restaurants there.

SG foodie and DH drove around a few times trying to decide which restaurant to try and finally chose Hanwoori (with the shallow reason that the outside decor of the restaurant looked pretty decent!). Deciding against the usual table BBQ, SG foodie and DH ordered a Kimchi hotpot with beef and octopus, SG foodie's favourite hol-sot bibimbap and a non-spicy sliced beef rice bowl for the little ones. One of SG foodie's favouritest part of visiting any Korean restaurant is the variety of appetizers that are served before the main meal. Absolutely LOooooooVE these and SG foodie is sure she's not the only one!

The hot pot was fantastic! Spicy but not overpowering, the beef tender and vegetables soft and flavourful as it slowly simmers on your table. SG foodie gave the octopus a miss though (never been a fan of octopus). Bibimbap and hol-sot (hot stone) bibimbap are one of SG foodie's main choices whenever she visits a Korean stall/restaurant (the other favourites include Kimchi Ramen). The hol-sot bibimbap here was done well with all the necessary ingredients and taste, kept hot by the hot stone bowl with crunchy burnt rice bits at the bottom of the bowl. YUMS!

The restaurant is apparently popular with small tour groups too.
