MUST TRY: Meng Kee Char Siew - Glenmarie Shah Alam

DH tried out a recommended char siew shop and came home raving about it so of course this means DH now has to bring SG foodie there to try it. After some driving that got SG foodie all lost and confused (so sorry SG foodie can't give you directions to the shop but maybe other bloggers can) and finding a car park (not easy to come by on certain days), SG foodie was more than ready to try out some char siew.

Now SG foodie is not a char siew fan in general... somehow pork dishes don't excite SG foodie as much as beef, mutton, chicken and fish but SG foodie is always on a diet of good food and will try most food at least once (and return for more if they're good!). Seeing there were noodles, SG foodie wanted a plate but they've apparently ran out of noodles by 11am! Wah so good business! The shop was pretty crowded and SG foodie was lucky to get a table after a short search.

Food! Glorious food!
SG foodie left the ordering to DH since he has tried the shop a few times when he visits Glenmarie for meetings (tsk! tsk! having good food without SG foodie!). Char siew, liver lup cheong, boiled white chicken and bean sprouts (taugeh) were ordered together with oily rice.

Now SG foodie really must rave about the ABSOLUTELY SCRUMPTIOUS char siew!!! Soft, sweet, just a tad fatty - they were truly worth the long journey here for! SG foodie essentially avoids all waxed food like lup cheong but giving the liver lup cheong at Meng Kee a try is a MUST! It tastes like char siew, none of the waxed smell or taste! The chicken was tender too but paled in comparison to the char siew.

SG foodie can't wait to return to Meng Kee again for their yummalicious char siew! SLURP!!!
