MUST TRY: Daorae Korean BBQ

If you follow SG foodie's blog, you'll realise that she is quite partial to Korean food! Anyway Daorae opened a branch not too far from where SG foodie lives in KL so the family decided to go for dinner there one day.

Now one of the things about Korean food that SG foodie is so love is the banchan (small dishes) that are served with the meal. And there's always so much variety of banchan that seriously calls out to SG foodie's heart! On this day it was the kimchi cabbage and the kimchi radish that SG foodie kept asking for a refill of shamelessly! Daorae served up a salad with the BBQ and also spicy beef (absolutely delicious so yes SG foodie did asked shamelessly for refills!) soup and a non-spicy seaweed miso soup for the children with the meal. The staff also brings bottles of unsweetened barley water that helps "cool" the system down while enjoying the "heat" of the BBQ.

DH ordered a pork platter and a beef platter that was barbequed by the service staff right at our table for us. Note the exhaust fan used in Daorae is a tube form which could be pulled up and down when the food is being cooked as compared to most other Korean BBQ places where the exhaust fan is above the table. The Daorae exhaust tube worked really well too such that you don't leave the restaurant smelling of BBQ food. TWO THUMBS UP! The BBQ meat wasn't very marinated so you could taste the meat itself and they were great eaten wrapped in the lettuce leaves provided. This place impressed SG foodie more than the Korean restaurants in Korea village in Ampang did! And the best part of it all, this place is priced very affordably! The Ginseng Chicken Soup was less than RM30 (compared to other places). Expect to spend about RM50 per person here if going for the BBQ or RM30 per person if going for the single-dish meals. So yes, SG foodie is very likely to be back again when the Korean food cravings set in.
