AVERAGE: Kogetsu Japanese (Saujana Resort)

A recent birthday celebration brought SG foodie to Kogetsu Japanese restaurant at Saujana Resort. This restaurant has been around for many many years and SG foodie recall having visited this place more than 10 years back. The celebration was at the Teppanyaki section of the restaurant that occupys a large corner of the place. Making various orders from the Teppanyaki set meals, the chef appeared to show us his prowess. Unfortunately there was no showmanship but merely cooking and talking. The food though was good, the beef steak nicely done, the garlic fried rice with enough crunchy garlic slices for garlic lovers and the meal was served with sides like sashimi, salad, chawanmushi and dessert. But frankly for the same price, you can get better Teppanyaki at other luxury-class Japanese restaurants (Check out SG foodie's review of Gonbei Starhill).

Shortly after this birthday celebration, SG foodie was invited for a dinner meet-up at Kogetsu, this time though for the ala carte dinner menu. At prices of about RM20-30 per dish (e.g Saba Shioyaki, Cha Soba, Two pieces of Sushi - yes RM20-30 for TWO pieces of sushi), there was also a limited amount of selection on the ala carte dinner menu. Of course you can choose to have the chef's special set menu for RM195. The quality of the food is expectedly good but the limited selection of food at atrociously high prices don't make this place very attractive and as much as there is some ambience, it doesn't have extremely comfortable seating but perhaps you're paying for the Japanese chef and good service but it's really expensive (RM100-150 per person) for just average food.
