RECOMMENDED: Dave's Bistro Bar Grill (1 Utama)

SG Foodie started visiting KL more often about 15 years ago (when she married DH who has some family here). SG Foodie, in one of her many "explorations", discovered Dave's Deli at the then newly-opened 1Utama (which has now been expanded and refurbished and remain SG Foodie's favouritest mall to hang out in). Dave's Deli has remained in the same spot it occupied and serves the same amazingly delicious food, since 1Utama opened but has added on a Dave's Bistro Bar Grill (quite some years back), a few doors away that serves non-halal food.

Ashamed to say but SG Foodie haven't ventured into Dave's Bistro Bar Grill, also known as Dave's Pizza until a couple of weeks ago when SG Foodie decided to give it a try. Seated in a nice quiet corner, SG Foodie was able to observe the world going by as she enjoys a pot of Earl Grey Tea (SG Foodie's frequent choice for hot tea).

SG Foodie decided to order the wild mushroom soup and Caesar's Salad, thinking that she'll have a "light meal". Well the serving size were large so having a light meal was out of the question as SG Foodie attacked the food with gusto! The Caesar's salad was served in a large bowl with a thong that allows you to toss the salad as much or as little as you wish. The salad has just the right amount of dressing, cheese and cruchable pork bacon (there's unfortunately no replacing pork bacon with beef or turkey bacon that just don't quite hit the spot). AND best of all, it is served with hard-boiled QUAIL's eggs, making the salad so much more interesting especially since SG Foodie doesn't quite fancy hard-boiled chicken eggs. SG Foodie isn't a fan of croutons but didn't ask for this to be left out of the salad as she wanted to see what was served and crouton-lovers will like that there is a good portion of croutons in the salad. The Wild Mushroom soup was creamy, filled with mushroom bits and served with a long, slim slice of toasted garlic bread that tasted wonderful on its own even without having to dip it into the soup. It's not easy finding an authentic, not-from-the-can mushroom soup and I believe Dave's Bistro has one of the better mushroom soups around town!
