SG foodie took a short trip to Cameron Highlands and recommends the following:
1. Sungei Palas BOH tea plantation - a variety of teas served, the food is not great though.
2. Big Red Strawberry Farm (Taman Agro) - this farm apparently grows different species of lettuce that are imported by McDonalds' Singapore for its burgers and salads (McDonalds' Malaysia does not healthy menu items such as salads or corn-in-cup). Try all the strawberry desserts here! Strawberry waffle, ice cream, pancakes, etc and they are delicious! SG foodie usually pick up a few bottles of Big Red own strawberry jams from here.
3. Charcoal steamboat meals in Brinchang town that costs about RM15 per person for servings of chicken, veg, eggs, noodles, etc. The charcoal steamboats are equipped with long funnels to keep steam away from diners too! Steamboats come in twin flavours too if you so choose.
4. For a taste of the old colonial times, make a reservation for lunch or dinner at The Smokehouse... The ambience is great where the decor is kept accordingly to its colonial days. Expect to pay RM100-150 per person for food & drinks here. The food aren't all great though.
5. Sg foodie didn't have space for scones this trip but heard that The Lords Cafe serves pretty good scones in Tanah Rata town upstairs of Marrybrown chicken. (Marrybrown chicken has its own unique fried chicken recipe and you can sit at tables with swings outside the restaurant).
